Nickname: “Silicon Valley of India” or “IT capital of India”
Official language: Kannada
Population: approximately 8.5 million
Religious Demographics: 78.9% Hindu, 13.9% Muslim, 5.6% Christian, and 1.0% Jain

History: Evidence of human civilization in the Bengaluru region dates back to 4,000 B.C.E. However, the city was officially established in 1537 by Kempe Gowda I.
